History of European Archaeology in the Twentieth Century
Instytut Archeologii i Etnologii Polskiej Akademii Nauk

With the passing of time, new heroes and different interpretations of events are made, thus never make archaeological history static.Even if history ariting is presented by some archaeologists as science, we doubt its scientific basis. Some archaeologists view European prehistory as from of literature, leading them to write narratives.Such narratives are ofen no less plausible than other interpretations. The trouble is that they are not justified by any archaeological data. For us,archaeology is an empirical discipline: we can tell stories about the past, but sooner ot later we have to go out there and sift the archaeological for supporting data.
