The increasing influence of women in the 21st century in social, political and economic life induces a broader reflection. A greater awareness of women’s issues has in turn led to a greater depth of knowledge related to women and their impact in the media and in politics.
The main aim of this publication is to illustrate the contemporary role of women in the public sphere including both the political sphere and the mass media. The participation of women in the media and politics has been shown in an international perspective which through the global exchange of information and movement of people has significant meaning. In analysing the participation of ‘the fairer sex’ in the above mentioned areas it must be emphasized that women are both authors-creators and participants of
political and media events, while according to the results of the latest studies the percentage of politically active women has been on the increase.
