Marek Rubec is a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and comics artist. His short comics have been published in Czech and European magazines and anthologies, and he became first Czech artist to create Google doodle. In 2013 won the prize ARNAL for the best comics without words and four years later won the comics competition at Frame festival in Prague. In 2016 he took part in residence for comics artists in Malmö, Sweden. He gained popularity in 2018 thanks to 'Jarmil', published by Centrala, little funny stories about monkey man living in a small creepy town somewhere in the middle of Europe. In his work, he often is inspired by the environment of blockhouses and urban peripheries.
